About the Artist
Ximena Hormaza D. paints on the edge of abstraction.  Her hazy paintings envision earth, water and sky all the while focusing on sensibility.  Hormaza marries imagery with a textural build-up of paint and color.  The combination intensifies the landscape’s organic quality and more perfectly describes its unpredictable beauty.  Her works are ever changing palettes that reveal artistic urgency and inspiration.  They draw the viewer in with illusions created not by details, but rather a fundamental understanding of natural form.  She sacrifices perfect structural reproduction to better portray the wonder in subtle formal variance found in nature. 

Ximena has exhibited her work throughout her homeland of Colombia, as well as in the US, Mexico and Spain.
