Juried Group Show: “Hudson Valley Art & Wine – A Grand Celebration!”

Saturday, June 11, 2011 (6-8pm)
Exhibition Opening and Artist Reception at M Gallery, 350 Main Street, Catskill, NY

The Hudson Valley is known as a world-class destination for art and wine. It was the birthplace of the oldest existing winery in the U.S. -- Brotherhood Winery established in 1839 --and America’s first and oldest art movement (the Hudson River School, 1825). Art and wine have co-existed here for nearly two centuries! The best of both will be showcased at the first-ever Hudson Valley Art & Wine – A Grand Celebration. The celebration, culminating in a travelling exhibition to four towns, was curated by the award-winning Hudson Valley Wine Magazine, and is dedicated to promoting the region’s wineries.

Jury-selected artists from the Hudson Valley region were inspired by twelve local wineries to create original works – paintings, photographs, sculpture and jewelry. The year-long celebration of art & wine in the Hudson Valley will present more than 35 works specially created for the program.

The Hudson Valley artists officially “paired” with a local winery for this program are:

Paola Bari (overglaze on porcelain) David Borenstein (mixed media) Robert Breur (sculpture in clay and wood) Sasha Chermayeff (oils) Joan Damiani (oil & photography) Virginia Donovan (oils) Anne Gabriele (photography) Paul Gould (oils) Jan Horton (acrylics) John Laurenzi (acrylics) Patrick Milbourn (oils) Lee Anne Morgan (fine art photography) Vince Natale (oil and graphite) Crista Pisano (oils) Judy Reynolds (oils) Barbara Rubin (oils) Susan Togut (mixed media) K.
